Stakeholder Website Redesign

“One responsive website, heavy on the mobile ordering, all day!”, Chef Angelica requested from the line; to which we replied, “Three weeks out, chef!”.

For this group project I was tasked with designing and developing a restaurant website, for usability and mobile responsiveness. The current site was in need of everything!

We developed a consistent visual brand styling throughout, sensible information architecture and hierarchy, several onsite menus that would allow for online ordering and catering inquiries, and social media interactivity for both desktop and mobile platforms.

Being green designers when it comes to the Wix platform, at times, using it felt like looking for a left-handed spatula while in the weeds! Fortunately, our team had put together a solid amount of 'mise en place', which ultimately carried us through the push and across the pass.

Texas Transportation Museum

Non-Profit Website Redesign

Texas Transportation Museum was a group project focused on redesigning a website that had gone 'off the rails', for a local non-profit organization.

My main roles for this project were to create the storyboard, conduct user testing, components, animations, and all of the wireframing and prototyping. I thoroughly enjoyed creating the animated train that navigates the primary menu and secondary drop-downs, across the screen.

Initial testing of the original site allowed us to assess just how off-the-rails things were, as well as, helping to form a plan of action that would give TTM a final product to really toot their horn about.

From the moment we boarded the TTM, until the time we reached our final station, this project was quite the whistlestop tour. We discovered just how 'off the rails' their website was. However, through dilligent research, various rounds of user testing, and several iterations; our team engineered the site back onto the right track.

National Park Service

Government Website Redesign

According to user testing, the original National Park Service website was not pleasing to the eye, contained repetitive information, and had a navigation system that appeared bulky and felt clumsy to use.

Prioritizing the information architecture issues first, the navigation system was consolidated and redesigned, which proved easier for users to maneuver during further testing. Next, the aesthetics were addressed and defined with a style guide, using a fresh color palette and font hierarchy, users now found the site to be almost as enjoyable as the parks are.

I was responsible for all aspects of this project. However, analyzing User Test Data and restructuring the Information Architecture were done in a group collaboration. I enjoyed learning new responsive web design skills, which incited a creative riot for various navigation and animation options during my different iterations.

During the NPS project, I found some roles to be a relaxing walk in the park, while others were like climbing the side of a mountain.  Overall, my visit to the National Park Service redesign was quite an exhilarating whitewater rafting trip.
